A month rolls by...
Well, it's been a bitty month - didn't manage (again) to stay on Sole Source. But I started again yesterday with a renewed resolve to get back to my goal weight of 13.5 stone. This morning I weighed in at 15st 12 so I have about 2.5 stone to go. On October 6th I'm off to Spain for a weeks R&R. I wont be on Sole Source for my holiday so I'm looking to lose most of the excess in the next 4 weeks. All being well, I should lose at least 1.5 stones, maybe as much as 2 if I'm lucky. We'll see. Now, where'd I put my water bottle.

John Dory...
So, when I'm not obsessing about my weight I sometimes go scuba diving - here's a quick video of a John Dory I spotted off Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset...

Photos
Thought I'd just explain my blogger profile photo that you can see here. That's me on January 2nd 2006 at 19st 9lbs. The second picture was me on May 2nd 2006 at 13st 7lbs and loving it. I put them on here to remind myself where I've been and where I'm going once again.
Monday morning and feeling pretty good
It's crap how we can sabotage ourselves. I was all set for a good and abstinent Saturday when we had some friends call round for the evening. It was great to see them and I found myself instantly kicked into food/drink mode. Suffice to say I ate/drank way more than I should. Alcohol is really a problem for me - it's definitely a binge food. One is too many and 10 is not enough, if you know what I mean! Anyway, I'm thinking about giving it up for good. It seems impossible for me to make sensible food choices if alcohol is involved.
On a good note, Sunday was better - my father-in-law was here for lunch and I cooked. We all ate a reasonable meal and I joined in. This morning I'm a pound down from Saturday morning so I'm pretty pleased with that - it's a good place to start the week off.
My plan for this week is to stick to my 4 CD food-packs and 4 litres of water per day. Good luck to everyone else currently on a VLCD this week!

One day done - a gazillion more to go!
Bathroom scales - love 'em sometimes, hate 'em at other times! This morning I love 'em as mine just told me I'm 5lbs down from yesterday morning. Now, I know it's probably not fat-loss, just some of the excess crap I've been eating recently. Still, I do seem to feel a little lighter this morning and feel in a positive mood.
My father-in-law is over for lunch on Sunday and I'm cooking. Not sure if I'm going to eat or not - I don't want to, but also don't want to appear rude or off. I'll give it some thought today.

Water, Water
So, it's mid morning and I'm ploughing through my first 2 litres of water. I need to be drinking at least 4 litres per day from now on so it's good to start early in the day. I have a real acidic taste in my mouth today - I guess from the crap I ate last night! Still, best foot forward...
Some good friends of mine have also started a VLCD this week - good luck to JB and Frisbee. We're all off to Spain in October and we're all gonna look like sun-gods by then!

So, here we go...
In January of 2006 I found myself weighing in at nearly 20 stone with a BMI of 34 (obese). I started a Very Low Calorie Diet (VLCD) and, over the course of about 4 months, lost about 6 stone. It was fantastic to see the weight slip away and my body shape to change, almost weekly. I got down to 13st 7lbs - a weight I never thought I'd see again. Last summer was just the best I'd had in years - with my new slimmer self I felt great. (My VLCD blog - jamesb.iblog.com )
Well, I guess the old eating habits have re-surfaced and I took my eye off the ball. Some of the weight started to go back on and I kinda ignored it for a while just thinking that maybe that was to be expected. But it has to stop right now! This morning I've weighed in at 16st 5lbs and I am starting the VLCD again from today. If I do this properly, it'll only take a couple of months to shed the excess and get back to where I was a year ago. The real challenge then is can I adopt an eating plan that will maintain my lower weight...we'll see.
